Building Services Business Unit EHS Lead Location: Project / Office Based with Regular Travel Sector: Building Services / M&E Construction Employment Type: Full-time The Opportunity Designer Group is seeking an experienced Building Services Business Unit EHS Lead to provide Environmental, Health & Safety leadership across our Building Services operations. Working closely with Business Unit leadership, project teams and site-based EHS professionals, you will be responsible for driving consistent EHS standards across a portfolio of complex mechanical and electrical construction projects. This is a senior EHS leadership role focused on compliance, operational alignment, safety culture, risk management and continuous improvement . You will act as a key EHS partner to operational leadership, ensuring Designer Group's management systems, policies and standards are effectively implemented across the Building Services Business Unit. The role reports directly to the Business Unit Director of Operations , with escalation to the Group EHS Manager . As Designer Group continues to grow its Building Services operations, this role offers the opportunity to influence EHS performance across a significant portfolio of projects and work directly with senior operational leadership. Key Responsibilities As Building Services Business Unit EHS Lead , you will: Provide EHS leadership and support across the Building Services project portfolio. Manage, coordinate and support project-based EHS professionals across the Business Unit. Partner with Business Unit and project leadership to ensure EHS requirements are embedded within operational delivery. Implement, administer and continuously improve Designer Group EHS management systems, policies and programmes. Ensure project and country-specific EHS procedures comply with applicable legislation, regulations and company standards. Support operational teams in identifying, assessing and controlling construction and engineering risks. Lead and support incident investigations, after-action reviews and corrective action processes. Act as a senior EHS point of contact for clients, regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders. Support regulatory inspections, client audits, internal audits, notifications and presentations. Monitor EHS performance across the Business Unit and provide leadership with relevant KPIs, trends and recommendations. Develop and implement EHS continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate and support statutory and non-statutory inspections. Identify training and competency requirements across projects and operational teams. Support the development and delivery of EHS training programmes. Provide EHS input into project planning, mobilisation and delivery. Support the development, review and approval of Project Execution Plans, SOPs, RAMS and dynamic risk assessments . Use leading and lagging indicators, data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. Support health, wellbeing and wider occupational safety programmes. Work closely with construction, engineering, commercial, procurement and project management teams to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into project delivery. Engage with subcontractors and supply-chain partners to maintain strong and consistent EHS standards. Represent Designer Group professionally with clients, project partners, regulatory bodies and local communities. Participate in relevant professional organisations on behalf of Designer Group. Requirements 5+ years' EHS leadership experience within construction, engineering, M&E or building services environments. A recognised third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety or a related discipline. Recognised professional EHS accreditations or certifications, such as IOSH .
